Dr. Nikolaos Spanakis was born in Athens, studied at the Biology Department of the School of Science, University of Athens and wrote his thesis at the Molecular Oncology and Biotechnology Lab of the National Hellenic Research Foundation. After that, he completed his Medicine studies and wrote his thesis at the Histology and Embryology Lab of Medical School, University of Athens.
Since 2005 he has been the Director of the Virology Unit at the Microbiology Lab of Medical School, University of Athens, where he also teaches as an associate professor. From 2009 he was successfully managing the Molecular Biology and Genetics Lab of Metropolitan Hospital and after that he took over the General Management of AlphaLab S.A., a member of Hygeia Group, as the Head of Molecular Biology department. He was Quality Management Officer and after that Manager of the Molecular Biology and Microbiology Labs at the Medical Analysis LTD in Athens, whereas he also worked at the Nephrology Centre of Hygeia Hospital and as a researcher at the Virology Unit of Microbiology Lab of Medical School, University of Athens, as well as at the Endocrinology Department research laboratory of the 1st Department of Pathology, Medical School, University of Athens.
His research interest is Virology and Molecular Microbiology, whereas, he has accomplished 60 international research dissertations, as well as numerous lectures and presentations in national and global congresses and he has also completed translations of medical publications on Microbiology topics.
